It’s a Love/Hate Relationship

Wow. Honestly, there is nothing else to say about the premiere tonight. That’s it. Blog over…… just kidding. Tonight we experienced the most blatant expression of the romance that millions have been waiting for over the past four years. Booth told Brennan that he loves her…in a strictly “professional thatta girl way”. Yep, the dreams of millions have been fulfilled. Might as well end the show here. Game over.

Ok, so it wasn’t as we imagined it. It wasn’t sweet or romantic or really anything. It was complete stunt pulled by the writers and Hart Hanson. So: point taken. The show is not about Booth and Brennan’s will they/won’t they dance. At least, it’s not intended to be entirely about that. Here’s what else happened in the season 5 premiere.

1. We discovered that Booth recovered almost entirely from his brain surgery and is feeling 110% better. Although he forgot what socks he wears and that he hates clowns. Other than that he is 110% fine. (Except for that whole in-love-with-Bones thingy.)

2. Absolutely nothing happened with Angela and Hodgins. Are they over? It’s honestly hard to tell simply based on the premiere episode which featured them individually about 2.5 scenes and together approximately 2.1 scenes. Which equals out to be not much.

3. Sweets is still around and still very perceptive. But I have to say that I’m a little angry at him for convincing Booth that his feelings were all symptoms of his brain surgery. But he redeemed himself when he was acting very protective of Brennan, which I appreciated.

4. Cyndi Lauper plays an amazing psychic (this is possibly because she naturally looks like a psychic). Everything Avalon said about Bones and Booth was true. My favorite scene was when Bones was at Avalon’s house and Avalon read her cards. It was one of the few times we get to see Brennan emotional and I love it.

So I have this horrible feeling that next week everything will be “back to normal” and that Booth and Bones will once again retreat to their “platonicy, professional” love. But if this premiere is all I have to hold onto, it’s still pretty fulfilling. What do you think?

Until next week :)
